Comparing the Effectiveness of Cognitive Therapy Based on Mindfulness and Compassion Therapy on Automatic Negative Thoughts, Psychological Symptoms, Pain Intensity, and Quality of Life in Patients With Fibromyalgia

Background and Aim Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic disease that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain. It primarily affects women negatively impacts many aspects of person’s psychological social life. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness cognitive therapy based on mindfulness compassion automatic negative thoughts, symptoms, pain intensity, quality life in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome. Methods & Materials research quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test design two experimental one control group. The statistical population consisted all individuals referred Mehregan Pain Clinic Mirdamad (District 3), Seyed Khandan 4), Taleghani Hospital 1) Tehran City, Iran. Of them, 30 were randomly selected divided into three groups 1, 2, control; each group will include 10 people. instruments used this included World Health Organization questionnaire (WHOQOL BREF), intensity (PIS), symptoms (Anxiety, Stress Depression [DASS]), thoughts (QNS). Ethical Considerations was approved by Research Ethics Committee Arak Branch, Islamic Azad University (Code: IR.IAU.ARAK.REC.1400.005). Results analysis covariance showed both therapies four variables (P<0.05). Comparing intervention methods had almost same effect (P<0.05) but significantly higher than Conclusion results indicate are suitable for people under appropriate treatment.
